All procedures used to change the looks of the person's teeth come under the heading of Cosmetic Dentistry.
To create the good looks all the armamentarium that Dentistry has to offer is used. Usually Scaling and Polishing is the first thing that is done. If fillings are needed, they are done. In some cases, Orthodontic treatment is also required. Then Veneers are made. These may be either of Ceramic or of Composite.
Here at the clinic all such procedures are available. An Intra-Oral camera is used to take the before and after pictures to ensure patient satisfaction.
An older-appearing smileline is one in which the front teeth have been so worn that the teeth appear straight across.
In the more youthful smileline, the front teeth are longer and help create a line that comes slightly downward in the middle and up at the corners.
If your teeth have already worn, you may be able to change your smileline by having the worn teeth rebuilt with composite resin bonding, laminates or full crowns. An alternative treatment is cosmetic contouring.
This patient had an extremely large space between her two front teeth. She also had an advanced erosion that can be seen as a "ditching in" at the necks of the teeth on the upper right side.
Although orthodontics is the best treatment for patients with large spaces, sometimes a compromise plans can be achieved. Success was accomplished for this patient by creating spaces between the adjacent teeth through cosmetic contouring and then closing the spaces with composite resin.
An important part of helping this patient's smile line was repositioning the gum tissue through gum surgery. After this procedure, the spaces between the teeth were closed with clear plastic brackets.
